Let’s Grow!

(2-6-05)

Mat.28-18-20

·        What does God say about growing?  God gave the power to speak on His behalf to His Son Jesus.

·        And Jesus says: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

·        And the Church says in response to Jesus’ command:

1.     “Do we have to!”

2.     “Can’t we just get some people from other churches?”

·        And Jesus says: “No, you do what I told you to do!”

·        And the right response is: “Yes Lord Jesus, we will go and do as you have commanded.”

·        The questions that follow need answers:

1.     Who should go?

2.     When should they go?

3.     How should they Go?

The answer to the 1st question is: Everyone has the responsibility to be involved and support the job of going to the lost.

The answer to the 2nd question is: Now! Today!

The answer to the 3rd questions is: By every and all possible means available to this generation, in this culture, at this point in time.

·        Another question that rumbles around in m y mind is: Can this church handle true biblical growth?

When the going and the making and even the baptizing happens, can this church handle the relational responsibility of the teaching?

(What do I mean by relational responsibility of teaching? The biblical examples of teaching takes place in the context of relationships. You must make room and time in your lives for new people.)

·        When people come, what will you do with them?

(The solution to our churches problems will not be fixed by throwing more money at it. Our church will only get better and bigger when we all commit ourselves to laboring together as a team to the accomplishment of the purpose to which we have been called.)

·        Is this church ready for the demands of our calling that Jesus has given His church to accomplish?

·        Will you clear away time and space in your life for Jesus and the Labor of His calling?

“YES LORD JESUS!”

Jesus Is, therefore
