His Ways
(10-17-04)
Jn.14:21-24
I
am dedicated to Jesus. It is Jesus who the Father has set upon His throne, why? Because Jesus proved himself to be worthy.
Jesus demonstrated obedience in all that he did and in all that he said. (Jn.14:24, 15:10)
Every knee will bow before Him!
Jesus
is Lord, My Lord and hopefully, also your Lord. Jesus is Lord because He was obedient in all that He did. He was obedient
because He loved the Father. (it is true of us, I believe it to be true for Him) (Jn.14:21,23) What Jesus showed us in His
obedience is that he understood the Fathers ways and made them His ways.
Lord teach us your ways so that we
too may bring you glory!
In Acts 13:22 Paul Speaks of King David’s service to
God as one who was spoken of by God himself as a man after His own heart and would do all that He wanted Him to do. David’s
heart was one that pleaded with God for understanding not only what God wanted but how. (Ps.25:4-5)
Moses was faithful in his service to God. (Heb.3:2,5) No
man has had quit the distinction as Moses. David was of the same heart as Moses whom he learned from and his heart desired
to know God’s ways. Moses said: “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you.” (Ex.33:13)
We can learn a lot
from Moses and David and Jesus’ lives. What we see first in their hearts is a willingness to know the Father’s
ways. How many times I have either seen or heard people arrogantly declare there service to the Lord but on their terms, not
God’s. (Think about it – how many of you would praise a horse if it only took you where it wanted to go, and when
it wanted to go there?)
Isa.55:7-10 It is
true, the Lords ways are above and beyond us, but He is willing that we learn from Him and live in and carry out His ways.
(Eph.4:17-24) Is it true that we can be found pleasing to our Lord and God? Can we also have spoken of us from Jesus’
own lips; ‘My servant _______ has a heart for my ways and does all that I ask.’
What does your heart
want? Do you want what He wants? Are His desires your? Do not be fearful of serving
Him! Jesus tells us His yoke is easy and His burden light. (Mat.11:29-30) He also tells us to learn from Him.
My faith rests in what
God has promised, even in all that is now being endured because He is faithful. These are the words of my confidence –
“11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to
me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14
I will be found by you," declares the LORD,… " (Jer.29:11-14a)
Lord, teach us your ways that we may walk in them!
Jesus tells us that we will bring Him glory by bearing much fruit; enable us Lord to be fruitful for the sake your
glory. Teach us how to be your servants. Grant us the strength and the boldness to do your will. Fill us with your Spirit
so that we may walk before you as your children should.
Lord teach us to live your ways
and in your will to your glory! Amen!
