Today I live

(5-30-04)

Psl.118:20-26

We each are on a journey, you and I alike. Our paths cross from time to time on this trek we faithfully follow, but the traveling, that is worth the telling. How has your week been since our paths last crossed? Has God been glorified in you?

We started a series back the beginning of February with a new topic each month for the next ten months. In February the topic was Habits. If we don’t like who and what we are – change our lives habits. To chose to be free from bad habits and to develop habits that serve us. This is wisdom.

Marches topic was Love. When love is our source of focus and drive we show forth God’s greatest attribute. And in April perseverance, by God hand, proved to be as timely a subject as anything could be. He is so Good! Out of that months study the rock of witness (Hupomenomen = we will endure) testifying to our devotion to both Jesus and His Church here at Morton was called into service.

The month of May brought with it Uniqueness. God is to be praised for how He has so marvelously made each and every one of us and how we each have a place that we are tailored to fit. It is so exciting to see the Hand of God working so powerfully in the lives of His Children. IN You!

In June we will,  Lord permitting, consider the day. This day we now have is it! This is the blessing! In the movie ‘The Dead Poet Society’ a Latin phrase is used as the rallying call to live – “seize the day”.  God has given us one more day to make a difference. How much would you change about your day if it was your last? What things would you think petty to do in your last moments?

How about your being the last Christian someone else ever encountered on their last moments on earth. Who and what would you like for them to find because of their having crossed your path for a brief moment.

PS 118:20 This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter. 21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. 22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; 23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

25 O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. 27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. 29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

This is the day! Every day is your moment, in time, to bring God glory by glorifying Jesus. Seize the moment God has given you as a gift most precious and make it count for something worthy of praise and glory and honor.

Jesus is! Therefore: I will sing His praises. Jesus is! Therefore: by His grace I yet breath to exalt Him with my life. This is the day the Lord has made, and that making is not without purpose. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
